Savannah, Georgia is such a great city to spend a weekend in. I’ve been there three times now and wanted to put together my best tips for a girls weekend in Savannah. Read on for everything you need to know to plan your visit including things to do, restaurant ideas, hotel recommendations, and more.
How to Get to Savannah
Savannah has an easy airport to fly in and out of, Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport. Once you arrive, it’s a 20-minute drive from the airport to Savannah’s historic district. I used Uber on my last visit and skipped a rental car. However, if you plan to visit other destinations in the area such as Hilton Head or Tybee Island, you may want a car.
Things to do on a Girls Weekend in Savannah
Savannah is a gorgeous city, with sprawling oaks and architecture dating back to the late 1700s. There’s plenty to see and do: sightseeing, shopping, great restaurants to check out, and outdoor activities including Savannah’s famous Forsyth Park. Here are a few of the best things to do in Savannah:
Explore the City’s Public Squares
One of my favorite things about Savannah is how many green spaces there are throughout the city. This is largely due to the city’s public squares: there are 22 public squares in Savannah within one square mile. The most famous square, Chippewa Square, is pictured above. Here’s a great map that shows Savannah’s public squares as well as other things to see in Savannah’s historic district.
Where to Shop in Savannah
Skip touristy River Street for shopping and head to Broughton Street for the best shopping in Savannah. Here are two can’t-miss stops on Broughton Street:
The Paris Market
5,200-square-foot whimsical boutique in an 1874 Victorian building. Definitely a can’t-miss!
36 W Broughton St, Savannah, GA 31401
Savannah Bee Company
Flagship store for the Savannah Bee Company, featuring a honey tasting bar, gifts and honey-sweetened beverages
104 W Broughton St, Savannah, GA 31401
Another gem in Savannah is a 15-minute walk from Broughton Street; next to Madison Square:
ShopSCAD
Fine art, jewelry, accessories, home goods and more by students, alum and faculty of the Savannah College of Art & Design
340 Bull St, Savannah, GA 31402
Visit Savannah’s Beautiful Forsyth Park
Forsyth Park spans 30 acres right in Savannah’s historic district. Here, you’ll find a Saturday morning farmer’s market and a great spot for lunch, Collins Quarter at Forsyth. Need a coffee for your stroll around the park? Head to the Sentient Bean, a coffee and pastry shop located in Forsyth Park.
